Manual Handling People Training

Overview

Moving peopleA highly interactive course, Ideal for those individuals who perform manual handling activities involving patients, the elderly, the infirm and those with disabilities. Looking at the bad handling habits people learn and why we need to ‘unlearn’ them, the course introduces an ergonomic approach which enables handlers to understand the ‘bigger picture’ to make better decisions when handling people. Individuals will be introduced to safe methods for handling people who are bed ridden, seated or unable to walk freely and the benefits of team lifting. attendees will be required to participate in discussions and practical sessions (physical fitness a pre-requisite for attendance).

  • Ergonomics and manual handling
  • Assessing tasks, loads, ability, environments and person to be moved
  • Problems with traditional methods and straight back /mechanical method
  • Kinetic handling methods (practical)
  • Manual handling of patients/clients  (practical - assessed)   (bed-work, seated work, walking support, wheelchair work)
